For a third year in a row, the Finest Baseball set will feature a tiered checklist with common, uncommon, and rare levels, but what makes the 2026 version different is the addition of the hobby-exclusive super rare tier — and a new box type.

Hobby boxes will include two autographs, and Topps has also announced that there will be Finest Baseball mega boxes for the first time, which will have exclusive Mini Diamond Refractors. A First Day Issue Dutch auction was held at Topps.com on June 3, while the site’s pre-order window was open on June 8.

2026 Topps Finest Baseball Checklist Overview

In the past two years, collectors have found 100 cards in each the common, uncommon, and rare tiers. The new super rare tier will have 50 cards to being the base checklist to 350 cards.

The design of this year’s set goes heavy on color and artistic aesthetics. In the bottom right hand corner, a player’s name is featured on a shadowed nameplate in a font style associated with the ’90s.

The tiers are defined by uniquely designed paint smears behind a player. The common theme has a vertical smear starting the middle of the card and running off the top.

On uncommon cards, the paint smear is diagonal, dropping from the upper left to the lower right.

Rare cards have a paint smear that begins in the upper right corner, giving the impression the brushstroke started off the card.

As for the super rare tier, these 50 cards are the scarcest base issues and only have parallels that are numbered to /10 or fewer. The design features two images of a player.

Each tier will have its own set of parallels, most of which will be serial-numbered.

New Finest Personality Autographs aim to highlight a player’s energy and charisma, both on- and off-the-field, while Finest Ink’s checklist will span generations.

Dual Rookie Cup Autographs feature dynamic duos of players who were each named to Topps All-Star Rookie team in the first year of their careers.

Inserts again span from common finds to SSP case hits, and many of the most popular concepts from years past are back again.

Arrivals, Finest Timelines, and Topps Team Finest are among the returners, and World’s Finest is back for the first time since 2023 to again showcase talent from the World Baseball Classic.

Finest Phenoms borrow the design from a subset within the 1996 Finest checklist.

Tough chases include The Man and Headliners, which are Finest favorites among collectors.

New to base are Aura and Nightmare Fuel, which have made appearances in other sports.
